Chapter 902:
I parked outside the Voss Group building and remained in the car for a moment, drawing in a deep breath. Then I opened the door and headed inside. I had barely entered the lobby when a familiar figure caught my attention. Melisa. She was standing near the reception desk, her phone clutched in one hand. The receptionist was trying to stop her from going upstairs, while Melisa’s normally composed voice had taken on an impatient edge. “I already told you! I’m Ethan’s fiancée. I can’t get through to him, so just let me go upstairs and see him, alright?”
The receptionist maintained her professional smile. “I’m sorry, Miss Davis, but we need Alpha’s approval before we can allow anyone to go upstairs.”
I had no desire to involve myself in their argument. I just walked toward the elevator.
But I hadn’t even made it more than a few steps when Melisa noticed me. “Lianne!”
Her voice rang through the lobby. I stopped and slowly turned around. “What?” My expression remained cold.

Melisa hurried toward me, a trace of urgency visible on her face. “Could you give Ethan a message for me? I really need to speak with him. His phone isn’t going through, and he hasn’t answered any of my messages.”
I looked at her, incredulous. The request seemed utterly ridiculous. “If you can’t reach him, how is that my problem?”
Melisa dropped her voice to a whisper as she leaned in. “Do this one thing for me.” Her lips curved slightly. “If you refuse… you might regret it.”
I studied her heavily made-up face. A complicated mixture of emotions churned inside me, but I had no intention of wasting another second on her. I turned away.
At that exact moment, the elevator doors opened. Noah stepped out. He walked directly toward Melisa with a courteous smile. “Miss Davis, Alpha instructed me to bring you upstairs.”
I stopped. For a moment, I couldn’t move.
Noah noticed me. Something complicated flickered briefly through his eyes, but he didn’t say a word. He just stepped aside and gestured for Melisa to follow him.
Melisa cast me a smug look before turning toward the elevator. The sharp click of her heels echoed across the lobby as she followed Noah inside.
The doors began to close. Their metallic surface caught my reflection. My face looked pale and unfamiliar. A stabbing sensation suddenly spread through my chest, growing tighter with every passing second. Tracy had been right. I had been foolish. I’d spent all this time convincing myself that Ethan’s closeness with Melisa was only temporary, that it had something to do with my illness and nothing more.
But now… He had allowed Melisa to openly introduce herself as his fiancée. Not only that, but he had also personally sent Noah downstairs to escort her upstairs.
What else could that possibly mean? Wasn’t that practically the same as confirming their relationship to everyone?
I raised a hand to my chest, unable to suppress the bitter laugh that rose inside me.
So this was the truth. The place I had once believed belonged to me had already been cleared out. Someone else had taken my place long ago.
How utterly ridiculous I’d been.
