Chapter 907:
Tracy sat on the sofa with a glass in her hand. Her lips parted in surprise when she saw me.
Near the window, Lianne stood clutching a freshly folded garment. Her eyes were swollen and bloodshot, evidence of how long she’d been crying. When our eyes met, astonishment flashed across her face before she quickly concealed it.
She glanced toward Tracy with quiet understanding. “You told Frank I’m leaving, didn’t you?”
Tracy immediately lowered her gaze. She didn’t attempt to defend herself.
Lianne didn’t question her further. Instead, she faced me. Her composure was so complete that it frightened me more than tears ever could. “You came at the right moment. I’ve decided to leave as soon as I can. I’ll arrange everything concerning the children properly, so you won’t have to worry about them.”
Something inside me snapped. All the restraint I’d maintained suddenly became meaningless.

At that instant, nothing else mattered.
I fixed my eyes on her. My voice emerged low and firm, leaving no room for negotiation. “You’re not leaving.”
Silence descended over the room. Tracy immediately understood that she had no place in what came next. She rose from the sofa and forced an awkward excuse through her lips. “I’ll get some water from the kitchen.”
Before either of us could respond, she disappeared. Lianne remained where she was. Her eyes searched my face, carrying bewilderment, surprise, and another emotion I couldn’t identify.
When she finally spoke, her voice was barely audible. “Ethan, you were the one who wanted us to end things. Now you’re refusing to let me go. What exactly do you want from me?”
My throat tightened.
What did I want?
I wanted to keep her safe from all the hurt. I just wanted her to be fine, even if she never wanted to see me again, even if she hated me forever. All I wanted was for her to live a calm, good life.
Those were the words trapped inside me. But I couldn’t give them to her.
I lowered my eyes and forced out the only answer I could manage. “No matter what happens, you’re staying.”
Lianne’s POV:
Ethan’s declaration immediately set Tracy off.
She had barely reached the kitchen before turning around and marching back into the room. She stepped directly in front of me, shielding me from him, then pointed angrily at Ethan. “You’re refusing to let her leave? Who gave you that authority? You were the one who demanded the breakup! You were the one who cast her aside! And now you suddenly think you have the right to dictate what she does?”
I caught her arm before things could become worse. “Tracy, enough.”
She turned toward me, her eyes already reddened with anger and frustration. “Lianne, how long are you going to keep tolerating this? Why are you allowing him to treat you this way?”
I shook my head.
