Chapter 926:
A thin line of blood immediately appeared. I grabbed a tissue and held it against the wound while reaching for my phone with my free hand. I found Noah’s number and called. He answered almost immediately. “Alpha, I’m heading over to get Ruby and Silas. We’ll probably arrive in twenty minutes.”
“Send me your location.”
There was a brief silence on the other end. “Alpha, are you planning to leave the hospital? You shouldn’t be moving around in your condition.”
“Send it.”
I ended the call before he could argue, pushed the blanket aside, and forced myself to stand.
The effects of the medication and exhaustion were still coursing through me. A wave of dizziness swept over me, making the room tilt for a moment. I caught myself against the bedside table and remained there until I felt better.
I couldn’t afford to ruin the performance now. I had to make Melisa believe every part of this act until I obtained the antidote. Lianne’s safety depended on it.

I changed into the clothes Noah had arranged beforehand, picked up my phone, and opened the location he had sent. Then I left the room without hesitation.
A nurse nearly stopped in her tracks when she saw me in the hallway. She looked as though she wanted to question what I was doing out of bed, but one warning glance from me was enough to make her reconsider.
I stepped inside the elevator and selected the basement floor.
As the doors closed, my reflection appeared in the polished metal. My complexion was almost colorless, and exhaustion had settled heavily across my features.
Not much longer. This would all be over soon.
Lianne’s POV:
I made it back to the apartment. Since Ruby and Silas had yet to return, I took the opportunity to prepare dinner before they arrived.
I kept things simple, making steak, creamy tomato soup, and fries, all three of their favorite foods.
Once everything was ready, I arranged the plates across the table and carefully filled Ruby’s little bowl with soup before setting it down in front of her usual chair.
The dining area in this apartment was far more modest than the one at the villa. The table was smaller too, but for the three of us, it was more than enough. I paused beside the table, taking in the meal I had prepared, and for a brief moment, a quiet warmth settled over me.
At least my children were still with me.
The doorbell suddenly rang. I dried my hands and went to answer it. Yet the instant I pulled the door open, the smile that had been forming on my lips vanished.
Ruby and Silas weren’t the only ones outside. Ethan was standing there too.
He was supposed to be confined to a hospital bed, but somehow he had come all the way here. His skin looked unnaturally pale, his lips were dry, and the exhaustion etched across his face made it obvious that he was in no condition to be out.
He shouldn’t have been here at all.
