Chapter 933:
She let out a disappointed sigh. “Lianne, Frank genuinely cares about you. He’s been worried sick about you lately. Can’t you at least meet him and let him explain himself properly?”
I stepped onto the balcony and rested my arms against the railing. “Tracy, I know he cares. That’s exactly why I can’t keep letting him spend his time on me. He should live his own life rather than revolving around me.”
Tracy refuted, “You’re deciding his future for him.”
“I’m trying to keep my distance.” I fell silent for a moment before adding quietly, “Sometimes the kindest thing I can do is step away and give him the chance to move forward.”
Lianne’s POV:
Tracy was quiet for a while. She didn’t push any further and only said, “Take care of yourself.”
Once the call ended, I went back to the living room. From the children’s bedroom, I could occasionally hear bursts of laughter from Ethan and the two kids.
Silas was excitedly sharing amusing stories from school, while Ruby chimed in with her sweet, babyish voice. Ethan’s deep laughter mixed with theirs, filling the air with warmth.
My feelings were mixed. Part of me wanted Noah to arrive soon and take Ethan away so we could finally put some distance between us. But another part of me wanted Ethan to stay a little longer, so the children could have more time with their father.
After dark, Ethan decided to leave on his own. He stood in the foyer, picked up his coat, and turned to the children. “I’m going home now. I’ll come see you again another day.”

Silas immediately grabbed onto his coat, while Ruby hugged his leg with both arms. Neither child was willing to say goodbye.
Ethan bent down and gently comforted them, promising to take them to the amusement park that weekend. Only after hearing that promise did the children reluctantly let go of him.
He straightened and looked at me. “I’ll take a cab home.”
I stopped him without thinking. “You’re still not completely recovered. It’s not safe for you to go alone in a cab. What if you suddenly feel sick on the way? Wait for Noah to come get you.”
He looked at me for a moment but didn’t object.
As we waited for Noah, I asked about his health. “Even Melisa couldn’t find out what’s wrong with you? What exactly is happening?”
His eyes dropped, and his voice was calm. “I may have been too tired lately. A few days of rest should be enough.”
“You should still have a thorough examination. Don’t keep putting it off,” I said, unable to hide my concern. “The children are still so young. You can’t afford to be unhealthy.”
He gave a small nod without saying anything.
When Noah finally arrived, I accompanied Ethan to the door. Just before he got into the car, he turned back and looked at me. It seemed like he had something he wanted to say, but after a brief hesitation, he only said, “Take good care of yourself and the kids.”
I nodded, watching the car pull away into the distance.
