Chapter 935:
Tracy stood outside. Her hair was messy, her eyes were red from a sleepless night, and she was holding a cup of coffee. She looked as though she hadn’t rested at all. “Why are you here so early?” I asked as I stepped aside to let her in.
She entered the living room, placed the coffee on the table, and turned to me with an unusually grave expression. “Lianne, I spent the entire night thinking about Ethan.”
“And?”
She inhaled deeply, as if gathering all her courage, then finally said, “I have a theory. It may sound far-fetched, maybe even shocking, but the more I think about it, the more convinced I become.”
“Go on.”
“I don’t think Ethan ended things with you because of Rola’s death.” Tracy stared directly at me, emphasizing every word. “I think there’s another reason. And I believe Melisa is at the center of it.”
My heart jumped. “What are you saying?”
Tracy lowered her voice. “I investigated Melisa’s background. She comes from a family of renowned doctors and specializes in rare illnesses and complex medical conditions. I suspect Ethan has been dealing with a strange illness that no one seems able to diagnose, and Melisa may be the only person who can cure him. That’s why he’s deliberately keeping his distance from you while getting closer to her.”
Her words left me frozen. For some seconds, I could only stand there, staring blankly.
I had spent so long telling myself that Ethan had simply stopped loving me, that his heart had moved on to someone else. Even after he walked away from me so cruelly, I had forced myself to accept that reality.
But what if Ethan really was seriously ill? What if he had been hiding it from everyone and carrying that burden all by himself?

I had seen Ethan collapse at work, completely unable to control his own body. Even the Thorn Pack’s best doctors couldn’t diagnose what was wrong with him. Every piece of the puzzle seemed to support Tracy’s theory.
Fear suddenly washed over me.
My hands and feet turned cold, and my entire body began to tremble. Before I knew it, tears were running down my cheeks. I covered my mouth with one hand, trying to hold back the sobs.
I would rather have believed Ethan had become cold-hearted and fallen for someone else than accept that he was seriously ill and suffering in silence.
Tracy hurried over, pulled me into her arms, and gently rubbed my back. “Lianne, don’t panic. It’s only a theory. It may not be true at all. I might just be reading too much into things. Don’t frighten yourself.”
But once that possibility took root in my mind, I couldn’t force it out.
I suddenly raised my head. “I’m going to find Melisa. I need to know what is really happening.”
“Calm down!” Tracy immediately caught my arm. “What do you think Melisa will tell you if you confront her now? She’ll only be happy to see you lose your composure.”
I bit my lip as I tried to calm down.
Tracy continued, “I’ll find a way to question Jeremy. He has to know something. Give me some time, and I’ll find out the truth.”
