Chapter 946:
The sound of the front door opening made me glance up. Ethan appeared in the bedroom doorway. His jacket hung over one arm, while his tie had been loosened around his collar. Judging by his slightly disheveled appearance, he seemed to have hurried back here.
His eyes moved over the suitcase lying open on the floor and the clothes scattered around me. Without saying anything, he came closer, lowered himself beside me, and took the shirt from my hands. “Give it to me.”
“I’ve got it.”
“You’re already sweating, yet you’re still refusing to admit you need help.” He caught my arm and pulled me upright before guiding me onto the edge of the bed.
Then he gave me a mischievous smile. “Keep your energy for tonight.”
I stared at him for a beat. The meaning behind those words sank in, and heat instantly rushed into my face. I smacked his shoulder. “You shameless man.”
His low laughter filled the room. He didn’t continue teasing me. Instead, he simply resumed the task, folding each piece neatly before arranging everything inside the luggage. From where I sat, I watched his hands move. He was surprisingly deft. Even something as mundane as packing clothes looked effortless in his hands.

“By the way. I’ve decided to leave the Voss Group for good. I want to start something of my own,” I said after a while.
His fingers stopped. He lifted his head and studied me. “Leave the Voss Group? What are you planning to do?”
“I haven’t settled on anything yet. I just know I don’t want to remain trapped in your company indefinitely. I’d like to build something that belongs to me.”
“I’ll help you.” His response came so quickly that I almost laughed.
I shook my head. “No. I want to handle this on my own. I can’t keep depending on you for everything. Besides, I don’t want people saying I only succeeded because of your help.”
Ethan stared at me for several moments. Then his expression darkened slightly. He lowered his gaze and went back to arranging my clothes. When he spoke again, there was an unmistakable trace of jealousy in his voice. “So Frank can help you, but I can’t?”
I stared at him in disbelief before breaking into laughter. “Why are you dragging Frank into this again?”
Lianne’s POV:
“I was only asking,” Ethan murmured, his words barely audible.
I gave him an exasperated look. “Frank and I aren’t anything more than friends. You really need to stop reading so much into everything.”
He raised his gaze toward me, suspicion evident in his expression, yet he chose not to argue. Instead, he picked up the final garment, tucked it inside the luggage, and pulled the zipper closed. “Is that everything?” he asked.
“Yes. Thank you…”
The words had barely left my mouth when Ethan suddenly swept me off my feet.
Caught off guard, I quickly hooked my arms around his shoulders. “Ethan, what are you doing?”
A playful curve appeared on his lips as he lowered me onto the mattress and leaned over me. “We’ve finished with the luggage. That means I can finally give you my attention.”
“Ethan! It’s the middle of the day!”
