Chapter 964:
It wasn’t until I opened the consultation room door and found her sitting quietly with an ultrasound report in her hands that I finally relaxed.
“You nearly scared me to death,” I said as I walked over and sat beside her. “What happened?”
Tracy raised her head. Her eyes were swollen and red, and a complicated mixture of emotions filled them. “I’m pregnant.”
I stared at her for a moment, then turned toward Jeremy, who was standing beside the window.
He turned his back to us, and his body was stiff with tension. A dark, troubled aura seemed to emanate from him. I couldn’t help reprimanding him. “Jeremy, didn’t you promise that Tracy wouldn’t have to endure another pregnancy? It hasn’t even been that long!”
He didn’t turn around. His low voice came from across the room. “I know.”
Tracy quietly caught my sleeve and drew me a little farther away. In a hushed voice, she said, “Lianne, don’t blame him. I was the one who initiated things that night. He was too drunk to even realize what was happening.”
I was utterly taken aback by her explanation.
“You…” I began, but the words died on my lips.

Tracy dropped her gaze as she said, with uncertainty and frustration, “I just acted on impulse. I never expected to get pregnant so easily. Now I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.”
I sighed softly and took her hand. “Then tell me what you want. Do you want to keep the baby?”
Lianne’s POV:
Tracy bit her lower lip but said nothing. At the same time, Ethan walked over to Jeremy, and the two of them spoke quietly.
Jeremy sounded conflicted as he spoke. “I really want us to keep this baby. But I can’t bear the thought of putting Tracy through pregnancy and childbirth again. She spent four straight months throwing up during her first pregnancy. When she went into labor, she endured more than ten hours of pain and almost suffered a severe hemorrhage. Standing outside that delivery room and watching her… I swore I would never let her go through something like that again.”
Ethan stayed quiet, offering no reply.
Jeremy let out a sigh, his voice growing more urgent. “You haven’t experienced it, so you can’t understand. Watching the woman you love most suffer on that delivery bed… you can’t imagine how it feels.”
The room immediately fell into a heavy silence.
Just then, I turned around and caught sight of the pain on Ethan’s face.
He stood there quietly, surrounded by a heavy, somber aura. The light in his eyes faded in an instant.
Jeremy immediately realized what he had said and quickly explained. “Ethan, that’s not what I meant. I wasn’t thinking straight. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”
Ethan forced a faint smile. He muttered, “It’s okay.”
But there was clear sorrow and regret in his eyes.
In that moment, everything became clear to me.
