Chapter 969:
Ethan’s POV:
The following morning, when the first light of dawn began to filter in, I turned over and looked at Lianne sleeping peacefully beside me. Her breathing was slow and her long eyelashes cast faint shadows on her cheeks. She looked so calm, like a beautiful painting.
I kissed her cheek lightly, taking care not to disturb her sleep.
After getting out of bed, I finished my morning routine and went into the kitchen to make breakfast. I had just taken out the bread and eggs when my phone vibrated. I looked at the screen. It was Melisa.
I wasn’t surprised. In the end, she had lost patience, just as I had expected. I picked up the call, keeping my voice as detached as usual. “What do you want?”
There was obvious urgency in her voice. “Ethan, I need to meet with you. When are you going to give me the solution you promised? My family has been putting pressure on me constantly, and I can’t continue to delay them.”

I put the bread into the toaster while deliberately following the direction she had given me, using the opportunity to draw her deeper into the trap. “I do have a solution. But I should warn you in advance. The terms may not be particularly favorable to you.”
She didn’t hesitate before asking, “What terms? Just tell me. I’ll agree to anything.”
I said nothing for a minute, deliberately allowing the tension to linger before answering in a calm, measured voice, “Melisa, you should understand that I’ve never completely let my guard down around you. After everything you’ve done before, I can’t simply place my trust in you.”
Her voice became gentler. “I understand. That’s exactly why I want to prove that you can trust me.”
“Very well.” I set the knife aside and spoke with deliberate composure. “I want you to have my child. It will serve as proof of your loyalty and give us a bond strong enough for me to trust you. Only then will I feel confident making you the Luna of the Thorn Pack.”
Ethan’s POV:
The line went dead silent on the other end.
I could easily imagine the shock on Melisa’s face. Clearly, she had never expected me to make such a demand.
It was only after a long pause that she finally responded, sounding hesitant, “Ethan, are you being serious?”
“Of course,” I said calmly. “If you’re not willing to do it, we can come up with another way.”
I intentionally softened my stance, making it seem as though I might back down. At the same time, I knew that would only make her more anxious.
Just as I expected, she immediately grew flustered.
“No, there’s no need for that!” she blurted out, desperation creeping into her voice. “I agree. Ethan, I’ll do it. Actually, why don’t we just live together from now on? If we stay together, we can conceive naturally. Wouldn’t that be better?”
A cold glint flashed through my eyes, but my voice remained composed. “Fine. Send me the dates when you’re ovulating. We’ll make the arrangements based on that.”
She agreed without hesitation. “Alright. I’ll send them to you soon.”
“Good.” I sounded completely indifferent. “That’s all for now.”
